It was a bad year for the British pound. But not as bad as it was for the Egyptian one.

Sterling plummeted against most of its global peers after last year’s vote to leave the European Union, putting the U.K. on sale for tourists and making holidays a lot more expensive for British people. Since the referendum a year ago, only six of about 150 currencies tracked by Bloomberg have weakened against the pound. With Brexit negotiations underway, and without clarity on the U.K.’s political landscape or monetary policy, the outlook for sterling continues to be subdued, as analysts forecast it will end the year close to current levels.
