Emotions flood over you. Regardless of any decisions you make concerning the pregnancy, one thing is certain \u2013 your life is forever changed in this moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Fast forward to your first obstetrical appointment. Waiting nervously to meet your ob-gyn doctor, you make a mental checklist of issues you want to discuss. You presume conversations you are about to have with your doctor will be confidential. You also presume the medical opinions your doctor is about to give will be transparent and honest, in the best interests of you and your baby, and based on your ob-gyn\u2019s independent medical judgment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Spoiler alert: some conversations you will have with your ob-gyn have been pre-determined \u2013 namely, whether you should consent to take the COVID-19 \u201cvaccine\u201d while you are pregnant.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/covid-19\/covid-19-vaccines-and-pregnancy-conversation-guide-for-clinicians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Should you refuse your ob-gyn\u2019s recommendation to take the COVID-19 shot, this will likely be recorded in your medical record, potentially shared with governmental officials, and you\u2019ll be asked again to comply in future appointments<\/span><\/a>.<sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0In what amounts to the ultimate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegms.co\/medical-ethics\/medethics-rw-22021403.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">patient betrayal<\/span><\/a>, these pre-arranged COVID-19 \u201cvaccine\u201d discussions are not necessarily the product of your doctor\u2019s independent medical judgment and do not provide informed consent about the known and unknown risks of the shots to both mother and baby. Rather, these conversations are likely fashioned to push the HHS\u2019s\/CDC\u2019s pro-COVID-19 \u201cvaccine\u201d narrative, in what seems to be an attempt to capture ob-gyn doctors and their patients across two continents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\"><i>ACOG<\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Meet the\u00a0<strong>American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists<\/strong>\u00a0(ACOG). Founded in 1951, ACOG holds itself out as the \u201cpremier professional membership organization for obstetricians and gynecologists\u201d and is the leading organization representing physicians and specialists in obstetrical care.<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/about#:~:text=ACOG's%2520mission%2520is%2520to%2520support,%252C%2520their%2520families%252C%2520and%2520communities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">ACOG<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is entrenched across two continents \u2013 it has more than 60,000 members and is composed of 12 geographic districts made up of 98 sections spanning North, South, and Central America.<sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\"><i>HHS and\u00a0<\/i>COVID-19 Community Corps<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Next, meet the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). On April 1, 2021, HHS formally announced the launch of a COVID-19 \u201cvaccine\u201d propaganda machine called\u00a0<i>COVID-19 Community Corps<\/i>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americaoutloud.com\/tentacles-of-a-covert-and-exploitative-propaganda-machine-compliments-of-the-us-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">a vast marketing enterprise which exploited private entities and individuals<\/span><\/a>\u00a0across the country to push the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines.\u201d<sup>4<\/sup>\u00a0As part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210401225102\/https:\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/hhs-launches-nationwide-network-trusted-voices-encourage-vaccination-next-phase-covid-19-public-education-campaign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">COVID-19 Community Corps, HHS awarded billions of federal dollars to recruit what HHS referred to as \u201ctrusted community leaders\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0who could push the \u201cvaccines\u201d within our most private relationships.<sup>5<\/sup>\u00a0Much like modern-day trojan horses, these\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210401225102\/https:\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/hhs-launches-nationwide-network-trusted-voices-encourage-vaccination-next-phase-covid-19-public-education-campaign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201ctrusted messengers\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0would be unique in their ability to permeate all facets of private life.<sup>6<\/sup>\u00a0As HHS explained on its\u00a0<i>COVID-19 Community Corps<\/i>\u00a0announcement page \u2013 a page which has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/hhs-launches-nationwide-network-trusted-voices-encourage-vaccination-next-phase-covid-19-public-education-campaign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">now been taken down<\/span><\/a>\u00a0with even the original URL removed<sup>7<\/sup>\u00a0\u2013 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210401225102\/https:\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/hhs-launches-nationwide-network-trusted-voices-encourage-vaccination-next-phase-covid-19-public-education-campaign.html.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s3\">Research shows that, when making the decision to get vaccinated, people want to hear from people they trust, such as\u00a0medical professionals, their own family and friends, and leaders in their community<\/span><\/a>.\u201d<sup>8<\/sup>\u00a0These HHS\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/covid-19\/health-departments\/addressing-vaccine-misinformation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201ctrusted messengers\u201d<\/a>\u00a0infiltrated every nook and cranny of our personal lives, in ways and areas that traditional advertising dollars simply couldn\u2019t reach.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p3\">Along with many other influential nonprofit medical organizations, ACOG jumped on board as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210401225102\/https:\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/hhs-launches-nationwide-network-trusted-voices-encourage-vaccination-next-phase-covid-19-public-education-campaign.html.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">founding member of COVID-19 Community Corps<\/span><\/a><sup>9<\/sup><i>\u00a0\u2013<\/i>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/search\/?hash=2b9bbf7349e6c520a55164cbe34c6321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">ultimately receiving millions in HHS\/CDC grant money<\/span><\/a><sup>10<\/sup>\u00a0and later recklessly endorsing COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy, even though the clinical trials failed to include pregnant women.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p3\">And ACOG is not alone \u2013 of approximately 275 organizations listed by HHS as\u00a0<i>COVID-19 Community Corps<\/i>\u00a0founding members, 25 are health and medical organizations.<sup>11<\/sup>\u00a0Other influential \u201cfounding member\u201d medical organizations included\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210401225102\/https:\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/hhs-launches-nationwide-network-trusted-voices-encourage-vaccination-next-phase-covid-19-public-education-campaign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">the American Medical Association, American Nurses Association, American Medical Women Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics<\/span><\/a><sup>12<\/sup>\u00a0\u2013 although women and children seem to be at higher risk for some types of COVID-19 \u201cvaccine\u201d injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\"><i>HHS and\u00a0<\/i>COVID-19 Community Corps:\u00a0<i>Follow the \u201cCommunication Science\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Essential to its strategy, HHS sought to identify trusted community leaders, enlist them to join its\u00a0<i>COVID-19 Community Corps<\/i>, and then utilize these \u201ctrusted sources\u201d to convince those around them to take the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines.\u201d<sup>13<\/sup>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-safety-250-million-dollar-marketing-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">According to a December 23, 2020 article published by\u00a0<i>CBS News<\/i><\/span><\/a>, HHS ran \u201cfocus groups\u201d to fine-tune its pro-\u201cvaccine\u201d message for what then HHS Deputy Assistant Sec. Weber referred to as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-safety-250-million-dollar-marketing-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">the moveable middle<\/span><\/a>.\u201d<sup>14<\/sup>\u00a0As then, Deputy Assistant Sec. Weber also reportedly noted, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-safety-250-million-dollar-marketing-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Communication science says you need a messenger who resonates as trusted.<\/span><\/a>\u201d<sup>15<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The focus was on finding people with not just local, but also uniquely\u00a0<i>interpersonal\u00a0<\/i>influence. As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsph.harvard.edu\/jay-winsten\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Harvard public health professor Jay Winsten<\/span><\/a>,<sup>16<\/sup>\u00a0who has advised previous administrations,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-safety-250-million-dollar-marketing-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">reportedly explained to\u00a0<i>CBS News<\/i>\u00a0in its December 2020 article<\/span><\/a>, \u201cYou want to go for the low-hanging fruit, those that are easiest to pick and harvest.\u201d<sup>17<\/sup>\u00a0Noting that the focus should be on finding locally influential people to push the vaccines,\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">Winsten added<\/span>, \u201cPeople trust their own doctors, their own nurses, their own pastors, their own social networks. That\u2019s very, very different from a distant figure.\u201d<sup>18<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Indeed, the effort\u00a0<i>was<\/i>\u00a0very different from using a distant figure. The marketing methods utilized by HHS to push the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines\u201d \u2013 including the creation of\u00a0<i>COVID-19 Community Corps<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 were so vastly different from any other HHS propaganda effort that an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/10810730.2022.2067272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">article was published in the\u00a0<i>Journal of Health Communication<\/i>\u00a0in April of 2022 detailing the process<\/span><\/a>.<sup>19<\/sup>\u00a0Featuring now-retired HHS Deputy Assistant Sec. Mark Weber as lead author, the article confirms that HHS did, in fact, target interpersonal relationships.<sup>20<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/10810730.2022.2067272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Weber and his co-authors<i>\u00a0<\/i>explain<\/span><\/a>: \u201cMarket research impacted every element of the Campaign from the beginning \u2013 from overall strategy to early paid advertising, social media postings, and other mass communication strategies.\u00a0<b>The need for\u00a0<i>interpersonal interactions<\/i>\u00a0with physicians, ministers, family, and community members was clear from the initial market research conducted in the fall of 2020.<\/b>\u00a0While the first phase of the Campaign initially focused on mass media messages, it shifted to more of a trusted messenger, and community orientation, with outreach focused at the community level.\u201d<sup>21<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Weber\u2019s and his colleagues\u2019 \u201cvaccine\u201d marketing efforts were so successful that, after retiring from HHS, Weber apparently formed his own private company aimed at \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/mark-weber-595918a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Achieving bold goals at the Federal Level<\/span><\/a>\u201d<sup>22<\/sup>\u00a0\u2013 in typical revolving door fashion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">According to Weber and his co-authors, the HHS campaign to push the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines\u201d entered its third phase in 2022 and has evolved into a highly targeted approach using both paid and \u201cearned\u201d media strategies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">As explained in the article, the HHS campaign: \u201c<\/span>Focuses more on precision marketing to identify subgroups with vaccine hesitancy, working directly with communities and using trusted messengers in those communities<b>\u00a0to deliver messages without the Federal government being directly involved (even though the information may come from a Federal source)<\/b>.\u201d<sup>23<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Notably, the article neglects to fully explain \u2013 or even recognize \u2013 that what HHS engaged in is both deceptive and unethical. This is because HHS used persons and methods targeting trust within interpersonal relationships to push messages that the \u201cvaccines\u201d were safe and effective \u2013 but often, government involvement behind the messaging was not fully disclosed. In some instances<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Lifestyle\/wireStory\/us-turns-social-media-influencers-boost-vaccine-rates-79373529\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">, as reported by ABC News in a page now removed from the internet, government organizations recruited and paid influential individuals to offer opinions about the safety and\/or efficacy of the \u201cvaccines\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 as if these were their own independent<i>\u00a0<\/i>opinions.<sup>24<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\"><i>Near-Perfect Trojan Horses? \u201cCommunication Science\u201d Means Access and Influence<\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Regarding the issue of \u201ctrust,\u201d \u2013 a pregnant patient\u2019s relationship with her ob-gyn is arguably one of the most intimate and sacred physician-patient relationships in all of medicine. This is not without reason \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidspot.com.au\/pregnancy\/labour\/im-in-love-with-my-obstetrician-and-im-not-alone\/news-story\/1fc5007077f517444c29fe53acecce56\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">as one patient and writer notes<\/span><\/a>, \u201cThey\u2019re right next to you for the most momentous occasion of your life.\u201d<sup>25<\/sup>\u00a0Pregnant mothers trust their ob-gyn doctor with the most intimate and sensitive information about their own bodies, their sex lives, and, if pregnant, about the new life growing inside of them. Their ob-gyn is one of the first persons to actually see a mother\u2019s newborn baby, whether reading prenatal images during the pregnancy or during the birthing and delivery process.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidspot.com.au\/pregnancy\/labour\/im-in-love-with-my-obstetrician-and-im-not-alone\/news-story\/1fc5007077f517444c29fe53acecce56\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Some individuals have even reported<\/span><\/a>\u00a0the development of a non-romantic affection for their ob-gyn that rivals that of the baby\u2019s father in some ways, due to the \u201ccomplete vulnerability\u201d many women reportedly experience with their gynecological and pregnancy specialists.<sup>26<\/sup>\u00a0In sum, government capture of ACOG would provide access to and influence over near-perfect \u201ctrojan horses\u201d to market the CDC\u2019s pro-vaccine message.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">The Ob-Gyn \u201cTrojan Horse\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">As for ob-gyn doctors, ACOG\u2019s 60,000 members span two continents, providing tremendous opportunity for\u00a0<i>access<\/i>\u00a0to those who could potentially become \u201ctrusted messengers.\u201d In addition, ACOG\u2019s 60,000 members steward one of the most trusted and intimate physician-patient relationships in all of medicine, thus providing tremendous opportunity for wielding\u00a0<i>influence<\/i>\u00a0over the vaccine-hesitant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">The Patient \u201cTrojan Horse\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">As for ob-gyn patients, women have been referred to as \u201c<span class=\"s1\">A Brand\u2019s Powerhouse<\/span>.\u201d<sup>27<\/sup>\u00a0This is not without good reason: marketing studies have shown that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/womenschoiceaward.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/WCA_FemalePowerhouse_Infographic_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">women reportedly make a full 90% of all healthcare decisions about their household<\/span><\/a>.<sup>28<\/sup>\u00a0Convincing women to take the COVID-19 shots was almost a guarantee that they would become pro-COVID-19 \u201cvaccine\u201d messengers within their own families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Moreover, if the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines\u201d were considered safe enough to administer to pregnant patients (and thereby trans-placentally to their unborn babies) \u2013 certainly they were safe enough for everyone. If HHS and CDC could pull off government capture of ACOG, and convince its ob-gyn members to push the shots on their patients, this would be a bonanza for reaching the \u201cvaccine\u201d hesitant \u2013 what HHS Deputy Assistant Sec. Mark Weber referred to as the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-safety-250-million-dollar-marketing-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">moveable middle<\/span><\/a>.\u201d<sup>29<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\"><i>Cooperative Agreements \u2013 Government Capture of ACOG<\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">On February 1, 2021, ACOG was awarded the first of what would be three HHS\/CDC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/search\/?hash=2b9bbf7349e6c520a55164cbe34c6321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cCooperative Agreement\u201d grants made during the pandemic<\/span><\/a>, in which ACOG would receive over $11 million in grant money over coming years.<sup>30<\/sup>\u00a0But there was a catch. As the name of the grants indicates \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/centersfordiseasecontrol.sharefile.com\/d-sa6cdb04fbfef4f579490cc942fe74945\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">documents obtained in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request<\/span><\/a>\u00a0show that ACOG\u2019s receipt of COVID-19 grant money was conditioned on ACOG yielding substantial control over the projects which were to be funded by the grants to the CDC.<sup>31<\/sup>\u00a0Receipt of the grant money was also contingent on ACOG\u2019s full compliance with CDC guidance on COVID-19 infection and control.<sup>32<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">And on April 23, 2021, the CDC\u2019s guidance on COVID-19 \u201cvaccination\u201d for pregnant individuals was made crystal clear. On that day,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/549965-cdc-declares-it-recommends-pregnant-people-get-covid-19-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced at a White House COVID-19 briefing<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that the CDC was now recommending all pregnant individuals should receive the COVID-19 \u201cvaccine.\u201d<sup>33<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Perhaps unsurprisingly, following the lead of the CDC, on July 30, 2021,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/news\/news-releases\/2021\/07\/acog-smfm-recommend-covid-19-vaccination-for-pregnant-individuals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">ACOG, along with the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM), recklessly began endorsing COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy<\/span><\/a>,<sup>34<\/sup>\u00a0even though the clinical trials failed to include pregnant women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\">Bound under the terms and conditions of these Cooperative Agreements grants (which ceded control to the CDC for programs involving COVID-19 grant funding), ACOG played right into the hands of the HHS\u2019 strategy to enlist \u201ctrusted messengers\u201d to push the COVID shots. As ACOG explains on its website, a pregnant patient\u2019s ob-gyn had the potential for enormous influence:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/news\/news-releases\/2021\/07\/acog-smfm-recommend-covid-19-vaccination-for-pregnant-individuals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c[P]regnant people need to feel confident in the decision to choose vaccination, and a strong recommendation from their obstetrician-gynecologist could make a meaningful difference for many pregnant people.\u201d<\/span><\/a><sup>35<\/sup>\u00a0In this case, ACOG seems to say the quiet part out loud \u2013 a recommendation from an ob-gyn could be a game changer for convincing pregnant women to take the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines.\u201d Here, the targets of the experimental \u201cvaccine\u201d campaign would be society\u2019s most vulnerable \u2013 pregnant mothers and their unborn babies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s5\">ACOG\u2019s July 30, 2021, announcement strongly recommending COVID-19 \u201cvaccination\u201d in pregnancy was a sharp about-face from ACOG\u2019s previous stance on the issue.\u00a0<\/span>Website archives show that for the months of the pandemic preceding July 30, 2021 (Dec. 2020 through July 21, 2021), ACOG\u2019s official recommendation was to allow pregnant women the freedom to choose, stating throughout the first half of 2021: \u201c<span class=\"s5\">In the interest of patient autonomy, ACOG recommends that pregnant individuals be free to make their own decision regarding COVID-19 vaccination.\u201d<sup>36<\/sup>\u00a0Yet, ACOG\u2019s recommendation abruptly changed on July 30, 2021.<sup>37<\/sup>\u00a0In place of patient autonomy, independent clinical judgment, and informed consent about the known and unknown risks of the COVID-19 \u201cvaccines,\u201d ACOG\u2019s recommendations would now follow CDC\u2019s guidance, announced by CDC director Walensky on April 23, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><strong><span class=\"s2\"><i>The FOIA Request<\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s5\">To learn more about COVID-19 funding received by ACOG during the pandemic, as well as who (and what) might have been behind ACOG\u2019s about-face on July 30, 2021,\u00a0<\/span>I made a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to HHS in 2022. My request was simple \u2013 it sought only to obtain documents involving the three $11 million \u201cCooperative Agreement\u201d grants HHS\/CDC made to ACOG during the pandemic.<sup>38<\/sup>\u00a0These grants were listed on a publicly accessible open data source for federal spending,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">USASPENDING.gov<\/span><\/a>.<sup>39<\/sup>\u00a0My FOIA request struck gold \u2013 triggering\u00a0<span class=\"s5\">1400+ pages in government databases related to these three \u201cCooperative Agreements\u201d awarded to ACOG. But my request also struck a nerve\u00a0<\/span>\u2013\u00a0<span class=\"s5\">approximately half of the information produced on those 1400+ pages of federal grants was redacted by HHS, ACOG, or both. Although specific program information and details about the grants have been redacted (based upon work-product, attorney-client, trade secret, and other privileges), the FOIA documents disclose the existence of the following grant programs between CDC and ACOG:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">\u201cEngaging Women\u2019s Health Care Providers for Effective COVID-19 Vaccine Conversations\u201d<sup>40<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">\u201cImproving Ob\/Gyn\u2019s Ability to Support COVID-19 Vaccination, Mental Health, and Social Support\u201d<sup>41<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">An ERR- Emergency Resource Request Tool,\u201d made by a \u201cRequestor\u201d from the CDC and needed by April 30, 2021 (before ACOG began recommending the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant individuals), in which \u201c<\/span>ACOG will use the $300,000 funding level to support its COVID-19 response efforts, targeting ob-gyns, other women\u2019s health care practitioners, and the patients they serve.\u201d<sup>42<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">A grant in which communications giant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apcoworldwide.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">APCO Worldwide<\/span><\/a>, a global public health communication vendor,<sup>43<\/sup>\u00a0\u201cwill support three key initiatives within the COVID-19 scope,\u201d including:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Support ACOG in developing a COVID-19 Earned and Social Media Communications Toolkit.<sup>44<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Conduct \u201cVirtual Training for Members\u201d to promote the COVID-19 communications toolkit, including hosting one 1.5-hour live virtual training session for ACOG members to \u201cbe recorded so it can further be amplified and used by other members.\u201d\u2019<sup>45<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">In partnership with ACOG, assist with producing and launching a COVID-19 podcast series, sharing information on the latest COVID-19 recommendation for ACOG members.<sup>46<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">A grant in which ACOG will, by September 29, 2023<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">\u201cdevelop one COVID-19 tool kit for District Managers\u201d and<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">\u201claunch a paid social media campaign targeting areas with low vaccination rates and high vaccination hesitancy.\u201d<sup>47<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">An ERR- Emergency Resource Request Tool,\u201d made by a \u201cRequestor\u201d from the CDC and needed by March 11, 2022, which will \u201ccontinue and expand upon work being done during Years 1 and 2 of this collaboration. In year 3, ACOG will focus on developing, maintaining, and promoting tools to combat misinformation on COVID-19, which has emerged as a significant barrier to the uptake of vaccination during pregnancy. ACOG will also asses which of their districts and sections are the most in need of additional education and outreach and focus their efforts on those communities.\u201d<sup>48<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s5\">An ERR \u2013 Emergency Resource Request Tool, made by a \u201cRequestor\u201d from the CDC and needed by March 11, 2022, for a second PILOT project involving\u00a0<i>both<\/i>\u00a0the American Academy of Pediatrics and ACOG, which notes, \u201cthe ACOG-related activities between the two projects are complementary and not duplicative.\u201d<sup>49<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s5\">Even with the significant redactions, the FOIA documents revealed startling information.
